The UAE has officially announced that Eid al-Adha 2025 will be celebrated on Friday, June 6. The date was confirmed after the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent moon on the evening of May 28, 2025.

This announcement aligns with similar declarations from Saudi Arabia and Oman. The confirmation of the moon sighting marks the start of the Islamic month of Dhul Hijjah, which includes the Day of Arafah (June 5) and the major celebration of Eid the following day.

Eid al-Adha, also known as the "Festival of Sacrifice," is one of the most significant Islamic holidays, commemorating the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah’s command. Traditionally, families gather for prayers, sacrifice animals, and share food with the less fortunate.

Public Holidays in the UAE for Eid 2025

  • June 5 (Thursday) – Arafah Day
  • June 6 to June 8 (Friday to Sunday) – Eid al-Adha

This gives most employees a long weekend of four days, which many will use for travel, family gatherings, or rest.
